DSAW meaning in oil and gas

Describes the weld used in manufacture of large diameter pipe. Double - indicates one pass from the ID and a second from the OD. SAW submerged arc welding is a process where the welding consumable (wire) is submerged in an active layer of flux; the flux provides sheilding from air as well as small ammounts of alloying components.
