Answers the question, “What does WRT do?” 1 Decision Making/Prioritization: helps to optimize the allocation and distribution of existing IT resources to best fit the needs of the business units. This includes allocation of existing hardware, recommendations on hardware purchases, software issues such as licenses quantity or purchase recommendations, prioritization of data loading resources, et cetera. (Purchase of IT resources is handled through the BIMs, separate from WRT). 2 Two-way proactive communication: between IT&S (Information Technology & Services) and the user community on Petrotechnical IT plan and issues (future initiatives/activities, problems, bottlenecks, or the potential for either) and solutions. Includes setting expectations between the user community and IT&S. IT&S presents why actions are being taken and the BU reps challenge as appropriate. The result is mutual rather than unilateral agreement and commitment to persevere any temporary hardships. This communication provides the opportunity to maintain customer relationships supporting quality service. 3 Planning: The information shared allows groups to plan. Examples include: number of incoming interns or personnel migrations, new data coming in and associated loading and disk space resources, and software distribution rollouts. It is also a great place to find out what isn’t important, which is equally valuable to be proactive.
