Multiples of diffractions are common in areas with deep water and complex thin sub-water bottom geology (e.g. West Africa, Norwegian Sea). The PGS multiple diffraction attenuation (MDA) process uses a frequency dependent pattern recognition technique to isolate the complex multiple diffractions which contaminate the deeper data.
