gocad meaning in oil and gas

GOCAD (pronounced "Go Cad") is a 3D modelling software package used commonly in subsurface mapping and reservoir model building. Some have begun using gocad as a generic term for a 3D model, much as xerox has become common for photocopying, although I suspect the GOCAD folks would want to protect their name from such casual usage.
