Concept Safety Evaluation

The concept safety evaluation is a study which examines the main features of a concept design to identify any significant risks to personnel, operational capability or the environment, allowing timely redefinition before detailed design. Later in the development, more detailed, quantitative risk assessment is offered to evaluate risk due to all potential major hazards, and to demonstrate that protection, escape, evacuation and rescue facilities are acceptable, and that the overall risk is as low as is reasonably practicable to achieve.
