Know as Fluoraz. ASTM designation FEPM (Tetrafluoroethylene propylene). The base polymer is the basic ingredient of a rubber or plastic material..

Aflas/FEPM is a copolymer of propylene and tetrafluoroethylene that has been successfully used in the oilfield sealing material for high temperature environment since the mid-1980s. Aflas seals are being used on production packer rubber element on production packer and other downhole tools. other downhole tools. The FEPMs are thermally stable to 450ºF but an upper temperature limit of 400°F (232°C) is used for most applications. One of the real shortcomings of FEPM is the low temperature limit. Caution should be taken when used below 100°F (38°C). The low temperature limit results from the fairly high glass-transition temperature of approximately 40°F (4.4°C).
